Firm History

James W. Buckley, Founder

  

In 1962 James W. Buckley moved to Swainsboro, Georgia and began providing clients exceptional Architectural services with his dedication and craftsmanship. This office remains the company's corporate headquarters today. 


After working with communities and industry's around the state for over two decades, the company was incorporated in 1980 as James W. Buckley & Associates, Inc. 


Upon his retirement in 1997. Mr. James Buckley passed his legacy along to his son, Craig Buckley, and senior employee, Greg Smith. Both gentlemen remain as the principals today and through their leadership they have built the firm which stands today.

  Our formula for business success has always been a ‘client first’ focus. In order to most effectively meet the needs of an increasing client base and continue to prioritize our client-first values, James W. Buckley & Associates has steadily grown to better service communities around the state of Georgia.

Leadership

Craig R. Buckley, AIA

Principal and President of James W. Buckley & Associates, Inc.

After joining the company in 1986, Craig continued his father's legacy by assuming ownership and the role of President in 1997.  He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology 

Gregory C. Smith, AIA

Principal and Executive Vice President of James W. Buckley & Associates, Inc.   


After joining the company in 1977, Greg assumed the role of Executive Vice President in 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University

Stephen S. Coomer

Chief Operating Officer of James W. Buckley & Associates, Inc.

Mr. Coomer joined the company in 2014 and brings over 30 years of experience in international transportation and commercial banking with an emphasis on operations, finance and business development. He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
